The Region of Durham will hold its annual Disability Employment Conference on Friday, October 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa.
The conference will bring together employers, community organizations, educators and accessibility advocates to discuss inclusive workplaces. The Region says the event is being held with Ontario Tech University and Ready, Willing and Able.
Featured keynote speaker Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai is described by the Region as the world’s first congenitally blind geneticist and a nationally recognized leader advancing equitable employment. The program also includes a panel discussion and an interactive vendor expo.
A hiring event will invite people with disabilities seeking work to meet recruiters. The Region says Durham Region Employment Services and Durham Employment and Newcomer Centre are partners in the event.
The venue is the university’s Science Building, formerly known as UA, at 2000 Simcoe Street North. The Region is asking people to register to reserve a place.
